Photography is becoming a massive hobby at the moment, especially around Geelong and surf coast where there are some stunning locations.

There are many Facebook groups dedicated to giving each other hints and tips or suggesting photoshoot locations – we have compiled a list of fantastic locations to take your photography to the next level. Some of these are vague areas because you could pretty much go anywhere for the prefect scenic shot, and others are very localised locations great for backgrounds.

GEELONG CENTRAL

Waterfront – Bollards, piers, water views

Eastern Beach – the promenade, the stairs the hill, the bollards

Griffiths Gully

Botanic Gardens – photo opportunities around every bend

Geelong Train Station – the old style buildings look great in the background, the stairs are perfect for layers

Churches – there are some lovely old style churches in town don’t forget to think of these

Johnstons Park – War Memorial, Rotunder

Customs House – the walls are great for back grounds

Union Street Graffiti

Geelong Gaol – you can get permission from the Rotary Club of Geelong to take photos in side the Gaol
