Picnic in the Sun Anyone??? - WhatToDo Geelong

We’ve complied a list of our favourite picnic spots for you to enjoy

Eastern Beach – definitely a favourite among families of Geelong!!! With picnic tables (if you’re lucky) or lots of wife open space to lay a blanket or to play some games… Also a play ground to keep the kids happy!

– BBQ’sBalyang Sanctuary – quiet, out of the way, you can watch the ducks and pelicans go by and kids love to explore the park lands.

(just remember you can’t actually feed the ducks)

The You Yangs Picnic areas – with a few different places to choose from you can sit amongst nature while you enjoy your sandwiches.

Werribee Park Mansion – a little further a field but if you want to sit in beautiful surroundings on freshly mown grass this is a great spot for you. And guess what you don’t even NEED to make you OWN picnic the cafe will make one for the time you ask for it – basket, blanket and all!

Geelong Botanical Gardens – such a beautiful spot to have a picnic! So relaxing and quiet but a great spot for kids too – you don’t have to sit in the main area, that does fill up on a beautiful day, you can always find a place away from others…
There is also a very nice cafe in the centre with tables or picnic blankets, you can choose how you want to relax and enjoy lunch.
(just remember to pack the mozzie repellent)

Eastern Park Play Ground – the play ground closest to the highway (near Geelong high) in Eastern park is a favourite for family and friends get togethers… You can often see 30+ chairs set up for a big picnic lunch…

Rippleside Park – Beach views, great play ground, open space what more could you ask for?

Stead Park – surprisingly quiet for its location, with plenty of room for the kids to run around a great play ground a great pick for families.

Johnstone Park – right in town is this forgotten picnic gem is just ready and waiting to have a quiet picnic… Room for kids to run around but plenty of spaces to have a more relaxed moment… And it’s generally quite empty.
